Roth as RMD
Can distributions from a Roth IRA satisfy RMD requirements?
-
Roth IRAs are not subject to RMD requirements while the account owner is alive.
-
Traditional IRAs and other tax deferred pension plans are subject to RMD, because the government wants taxpayers to take the taxable distributions after reaching age 72.
Thus, distributions from Roth IRAs will not satisfy the distribution requirements applicable to traditional IRAs, Section 403(b) accounts or contracts, and qualified retirement plans such as 401(k)s.
