I used this tax service expecting accuracy and professionalism. Instead, I received a notice months later that I owed nearly $800 due to an error they made when filing my taxes. When I reached out, I was given a vague explanation about Virginia changing its military pay deduction. Initially, I was open to understanding the changes—laws evolve. But then I was told I should contact the state to “remind them” about the regulation, even though I clearly earned more than the qualifying limit. It made no sense and felt like the preparer was shifting responsibility for their mistake onto me. Eventually, they admitted they had missed the updated tax rule and offered me a $115 credit. I appreciated the gesture, but it didn’t match the nearly $800 burden I was now left with. Their justification? That I “would’ve owed it anyway.” Maybe so—but had this been identified at the time of filing, I could’ve budgeted for it. The problem was not the debt, but the surprise of it—caused entirely by their oversight. I tried to explain this, emphasizing how timing impacts financial planning. Still, they dismissed the point and stood by the idea that their role ended with pointing out the error after the fact. That’s not service—it’s damage control. In the end, I was left with the cost of someone else’s mistake and a strong reminder of why accountability should be a two-way street. Accurate information delivered late is still misinformation—and when it comes to finances, timing is everything. I cannot recommend this business to anyone who values professionalism, accountability, or basic attention to detail. This experience was disappointing, and the lack of ownership only made it worse.
