I sent my tax returns for 22 and did not receive notice of a problem until months later. I was prompted to send an amended tax return, I was later informed it was not needed, by mistake the same tax return amount was then taken from my account instead of being given. IV not received an apology or the tax returns owed to me by the IRS.
Every phone call leads in circles and everyone knows nothing about how to fix the situation. Sometimes it takes 2-3 transfers between callers before you get so a department that pertains to the situation, even so (Wait) is the norm, advise getting a lawyer before filing your next tax returns. When it comes to knowing how to navigate there system they are spot on. When it comes to knowing how to solve a problem relating to IRS negligence or how to connect with someone who can assess and solve a problem relating to tax returns that were reserved, they can tell you to (wait) 4-16weeks. And then maybe you will get an email or something.
