I found this tax consultant, after some years of experience with him, to be gradually less and less careful and attentive in preparing his returns. Twice he filed them ectronically for me without sending them to me first for review, which I had firmly requested and which should be mandatory a good accountantto do for his clients. The result was a massive audit this year which has been extremely discomforting, all due to the fact that Mr. Avilla did NOT catch "the red flags" he had promised and did NOT send the returns to his client before submitting.
Aside from being unconscionable in my book, it is borderline unethical, and I could not advise any of my colleague or friends to abuse themselves of Mr. Avilla's "skills," given his track record.
A final note: Mr. Avilla had noted to me several times when I first started using him that "none of my clients have ever been audited." That was one of the reasons I used him in the first place. Now that I am a something of a casuality of his professional carelessness, I learn (from no less than Mr. Avilla himsefl) that he has in fact had 35 clients that have been audited -- and one of them was Mr. Avilla himself
