We have been with Matrix III for over 10 years. They are so professional and knowledgeable about anything relating to your finances: taxes, savings, retirement, college investing. We totally trust their guidance and advise and now find ourselves in an excellent financial position in retirement. (Some of our prior experiences with other companies did not provide the information and guidance that we really needed as we were dealing with traditional and self employment income.)

Kathie, thank you for your thoughtful review, we appreciate your trust and endorsement for the important work we do. There are many interdependent elements to consider when making financial decisions. One of the significant elements of consideration is taxes. Those who use the tax code to their benefit, pay the least amount in taxes. We accomplish this goal by utilizing established ethical tax and investment strategies identified through education, training, experience, and technology. Thank you again, and we look forward to seeing you soon.

I'm writing this to inform those considering Matrix III to reconsider whom they choose for their taxes. Long story as short as possible, they knowingly misfiled my wife and I's taxes and the IRS sent us a collection notice for $1,878 in which Matrix III accepts zero responsibility. Huge issue for most anyone, and when you're a medically retired Marine and on a fixed income with a recent newborn it definitely stings especially when you pay a tax service company to properly file your taxes. In calling Matrix III they don't accept responsibility and Linda will sit there and argue with you. Steve was nice to my wife when she called, but again, zero acceptance for the issue his employee made. Both Linda and Steve claim that they have marked in their notes that they informed us that IRS could come back at us saying I didn't provide all paperwork to them. Which is a blatant lie because neither my wife nor myself would have run this risk. I don't know how their notes are saved, but since I called a couple days and Linda was working alone, I think the possibility of updating notes could be possible when you are informed of an issue. Notes aside, you'd think being the tax professionals that they would refuse to submit any taxes to the government until they had all the paperwork in hand to verify all their submitted information was correct. Also you'd think that since they knew information was missing since Linda admitted that on the phone for which all phone calls I make on my phone are recorded, they'd have us sign some sort of documentation saying information x was discussed but not presented and any issues that may arise are not the fault of Matrix III. But instead they mark it in their "notes" that you never see or acknowledge that that's what you actually talked about when your taxes are prepared prior to any issue arising. Again, they clearly knew that they didn't have some income records because Linda admitted that, and again I ask, what professional submits wrong tax filings? Please note, that I get a medical retirement from the VA and also Social Security disability due to combat related injury. The VA pay is not taxable income and social security wasn't taxed either prior to my wife and I getting married. So I was under the impression that it would all be none taxable again for 2015 which is the year my wife and I got married. This is why they didn't have all income documents. Linda never mentioned or took the time to explain about it prior to speaking with her after the IRS collection letter was sent. Again, I have a call recorder on my phone that records every phone call (not just for this issue) and she admitted that I told her what pay I received. I'm straightforward with nothing to hide so when the topic came up I explained what pay I received and why I didn't have my paperwork for my income and only my wife's. The guy we used this year asked to see my paperwork so after we left I sent it to him but didn't really know how it affected our taxes. Also, don't expect any timely calls back or acknowledgement of receipt of information. In one of the pictures you can see that Linda tried to call me on April 17th... the day before taxes were due this year to see if we were coming in to have our taxes done. But also, I called May 22nd to inform them of the issue I just explained here and emailed some information after that phone call. On May 30th I still hadn't heard anything, with the 29th being a holiday so I doubt they were in office and don't consider that a working day (as expected on a holiday), so I had to call on the 30th at nearly 2pm to find out what was going on.

I am disappointed to hear about your unfortunate experience. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We take the responsibility of filing accurate tax returns very seriously. We strive to save our clients’ money on their taxes in the most customer friendly, accurate, and affordable way. I certainly apologize for any miscommunication on our part, and we are looking into your underreporting problem. Each tax return is reviewed for accuracy by the tax preparer, the taxpayer, and a series of technological checks before client signature. We apologize and hope you do not judge the entire company by this one experience. Feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any questions or comments, or if there is anything more we can do to help remedy your experience. Thanks again for the feedback, Sincerely, Steven P. Cook
