Appointment fees were not explained correctly from office manager. I was told if that we schedule a consultation appointment, and then if we chose to use the firm to file or taxes, that amount would be applied towards the filing fee. So to me, that implies that consultation fee ($185.50) would be applied towards the filing fee ($496.40).
So if I paid $185.50 at the consultation, the final invoice should state filing charges of ($496.50) - the retainer fee for consultation ($185.50) = total due $311.
I understand that I was not charged for the initial consultation which was an error on the offices part. What I am having a hard time understanding is that even if I paid the consultation fee at the time of consult, the consultation and planning fee on the invoice would still be charged but the credit would be applied towards that, and the separate charge for filing would still appear on the invoice in full, and not credited towards that, which was initially explained when booking the appointment.
