Michael agreed to do our taxes via email on Feb 9. We have 1099, investments, LLCs, etc. Long story short the lack of communication costs us thousands. We uploaded all our personal and business information into his portal app on Feb 9. He never acknowledged receipt to those being uploaded, asked questions, had a meeting...we followed up several times (2/13, 2/22,2/23) to confirm he was all set and got our documents...radio silence... On April 18 (one day before the due date) I emailed asking for an update because I haven't hard from him in over two months. He emails back admitting he misunderstood what we hired him for and he thought it was just personal taxes...so it was clear he never opened his portal or emails to review our information until one day before due date...realizing he was in over his head he did a poor job and we are now paying the price. On the due date he calls me and I pay - or so I thought - a large amount over the phone with Michael until i could set up a payment plan..it never went through so a few days later I followed up...crickets. I actually thought he was ill or dead because it was June 6 at this point and he was zero help to us and we still didnt receive our 2022 documents outlining our taxes. The way I got his attention was I messaged, I think his wife, on Facebook on June 6th. He still didn't pick up the phone to call me...he answered via email saying "I dont know why the IRS didnt take your payment..." we didnt get our tax returns until June 28th...we have been working with another accountant to get them amended and it has cost us thousands. I am trying to submit all kinds of forms trying to get money back that could have been avoided if he did his job OR said I cannot take on this level of work. We outsourced this service because we could not manage it and were expecting some guidance as well.
