As a small, locally owned business, we greatly value our ability to handle the needs of our clients. We apologize that we did not meet your expectations but we feel that it is important to point out a few things that we hope will clarify this situation as you have placed it in a public forum. You approached us with an inquiry for 2022 tax return preparation on or about April 13th, the very end of our tax season and a time where we were focused on finishing our client tax matters prior to the April 18th deadline. At no time, did you engage us nor did we commit to do anything on your behalf without providing you with a quote for services as is customary in any industry. There was no letter of engagement or fee structure discussed. We have confirmed with both the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy as well as the Connecticut State Board of Accountancy that our firm policy regarding engagements is consistent with the Board of Accountancy’s longstanding guidance. If we file a tax return of any kind with the IRS or State without agreed upon engagement terms, we would be creating legal exposure and liability for our Firm. We apologize for the miscommunication and would have welcomed the opportunity to have discussed these issues calmly and professionally. Sadly, we were not given that chance. We stand by our 30+ year reputation for excellent work and client services.

0 Stars - A review of Quinn & Company’s accounting services and customer service. We had a long conversation with an accountant at Quinn & Company regarding our 2022 taxes and becoming our accountant. Because the date was close to the tax deadline, they said they were very busy and would need to file an extension for us before even being able to give us a quote on the cost of the tax preparation. We were in no rush, so we said that was fine and that we weren't worried about the cost. We were asked to drop off our 2021 taxes so that they could use the information it contained to file the extension, after which they would use it to provide us with a quote. I physically brought our 2021 taxes to their office on 4/13 as they said the original was preferred over a scanned copy. Fast forward to today, 4/20, when they called to give us the price of doing our taxes and to see if WE had filed an extension! There was no apology for dropping the ball, instead they lied and said they never told us they would do that for us. What?!?? Why in the world would we have had that conversation or dropped off our taxes if not to have them help us with the extension and 2021 filings. When our extreme displeasure was shared with them, we were told the owner would call us back. He did, but only to say that he would put our 2021 taxes outside because they didn't want to do business with us anymore. Talk about bad customer service, bad business practices, and a lack of ethics! They should be ashamed of themselves!
