Karen Drescher CPA, A TaxBuzz Success Story

As Warren Buffett once said, "It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently." Your tax and accounting practice is built on your reputation. So protecting your authority online is a key to your success. In this case study we show you how Karen Drescher, CPA has used TaxBuzz.com to attract five-star reviews that convert into real clients.

Meet Atlanta CPA Karen Drescher

Karen manages a growing Atlanta CPA firm that caters to individuals and small business owners. Karen was looking to grow her firm, and her son had been in her ear about digital marketing. Karen shared that her son advised her, "You've not been thrown into new technology... you've gotten older with technology, so it's important for you to keep up with it." Her goal was to connect with new audiences. "We are in a new world. To reach the younger generation, they Google everything," added Karen.

Karen started working with ClientWhys and TaxBuzz.com in 2015. She was an ideal client who listened to our advice. The first task was to start attracting five-star reviews on her TaxBuzz profile. With 16 five star reviews and growing, she is reaping the benefits. Karen shared, "since publishing reviews on my CPA practice, my business has grown 35%."

Better yet, Karen and her firm have a solid client onboarding experience. "Every new client that we get, we ask where they come from. They all tell me they found me on Google and read my reviews on TaxBuzz." Even if you grow exclusively by referrals, you must persuade the new prospect that he or she made the right decision in choosing to work with you. The majority of new prospects will Google your name to see if what the referrer said about you is shared by other clients. It is this social proof that helps tax and accounting firms attract more clients.

But it doesn't matter how many leads you get if you are not responsive and don't have a new client onboarding process. You need to answer the phone and respond quickly to web leads. According to InsideSales.com, 50% of new sales go to the first party to contact the prospect. Karen shares that "if we receive a notice from a web lead, we contact them immediately to help them. But that goes for any client. We treat all clients as if they are our only one. Google might bring them in, but it's up to us to keep them."

The best part of review marketing is the validation that the service you provide is appreciated by your client base. Knowing that you request reviews is also a way to keep you accountable to your own service levels. Karen added this funny tidbit: "You know I love you guys. ... Had a guy come in Tuesday that found me on TaxBuzz, and he didn't need any help, he just wanted to meet me. ... He said he had read so many good things. ... So it's working!"

Finally, Karen added this advice to fellow CPAs and tax accountants: "I highly recommend getting yourself out in the digital world. ... It's the future of all businesses."
