We've had Sherrill at ClarkJames Inc. Tax amp Accounting prepare our tax returns for several years without incident. This year however, Sherrill made a mistake which ended up costing us almost 500 out of pocket. When I politely inquired about the error, Sherrill stated that we did not include the required records with our submission to her. When I pointed out that all of the required records were present, she then changed her story and said that she had missed it, which is okay, mistakes happen. What's not okay is blaming the client for your mistake and not offering a fair resolution. I asked if she felt comfortable charging us a fee to incorrectly prepare our tax return, resulting in the near 500 out of pocket expense. She then stated I'm not going to give you a refund because it's not a lot of money. You're right Sherrill, it's not a lot of money, but it's not about the money, it's about the principal of the matter. You made an error that cost us money out of pocket, It's up to you to provide a fair resolution. Before leaving her office she told me that I should have another CPA do my tax returns in the future. Sherrill, I couldn't agree more. In fact, that's probably great advice for all your clients. Everybody makes mistakes and that's okay. But, what makes that okay is having the humility to admit fault, the integrity to make a corrective action, and the respect for you clients to offer a fair resolution. In my experience and opinion, Sherrill does not possess these necessary traits to be considered a competent professional. I would not recommend ClarkJames Inc., as Sherrill suggested... have someone else do it.

Clark/James Inc. has been my accountant for tax preparation and payroll for years...they are wonderful : efficient, knowledgeable, trustworthy, fast, friendly, and affordable. I feel fortunate to have found them and highly recommend them.
