My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Mr. Smallberg! He saved us a bundle. His prepared our Trust, personal, and corporate tax returns in a timely fashion. He was the first CPA we dealt with that understood all the MLPs we had to file. He was available morning, noon, and night. As long as we gave him truthful information, there was no problem. His knowledge of NY State taxes and federal laws was extensive. He carried out any research that was necessary to file our returns. He was pleasant and professional. We highly recommend him and intend to use him for all our future tax planning, estate planning, and for filing our returns in the future. He is an honest young man! We had nothing but a positive experience with Mr. Smallberg!

I hired this firm to do a simple corporate return and my personal taxes and worked with Bradley Smallberg. I originally chose him because I had a unique tax situation and he assured me that my calculations were wrong and I was going to pay a higher tax rate than I should. He was ultimately wrong. Not only was he wrong, but he was also careless and ignorant. As it turned out, Congress had passed a law that would've saved me a great deal of money, and I had to hear about it from another accountant a few days before tax filing time. Despite my offer to send everything that I had in December before the tax year, Bradley assured me that there would be plenty of time to handle things. He put my taxes off until late March, resulting in a time crunch after he made several rounds of careless mistakes on my return. I had to ultimately file for an extension, and although I told him exactly while I was filing the extension, he failed to advise me of a specific New York law that, six months later, ended up costing me tens of thousands of dollars in penalties. After a contentious phone call, he resigned as my accountant, citing the tone of our phone call and nonpayment of bills. I advised him that had not paid any bills because I had not received any. After several months of arguing, he discovered that his firm was sending the bill to the wrong email address. No paper bills either. He finally overcharged me, in my opinion, for the corporate return (according to the AICPA, average bill for a corporate return is $600, and he billed me 1200). Would have been nice to know what the charges would be ahead of time, but I received no engagement letter either for my personal taxes or the corporate taxes. Overall, the worst experience ever.
